Working harbors are a wonderful mixture of commercial and recreational experience. They are always interesting places with fascinating "goings on". This picturesque little Southern California harbor is over 1/2 commercial fishing boats and the rest a thriving local marina.
It's exciting to see the boats heading in and out, but best of all... The birds!
Every evening, many hundreds of (some days a few thousand) birds fly across the harbor heading for their evening resting spots.
This hour-long evening relaxation features a couple of gulls on our center stage (there are dozens sitting around us as we film but we do have a center stage). The first is black and white California Gull - distinctive with the red spot on the bill. He leaves when the breeze come up (about 3 minutes in) but another gull land on our center stage around 14:45. This one is brown. So what is the difference between the two? Well, the first gull is a breeding adult and the second one is a one year-old youngster who will go white like the breeding adult over the next 2 years.
We find spending that spending time at the harbor is a wonderful, relaxing and centering experience and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
